Karaoke Night at the Lakes

Grassy Pond came alive when the Life After Fifty group arrived!
About 60 karaoke fans were present to see what would happen
when the LAF group tried singing in lieu of dancing!  Well, you
should have been there - we had some great voices in the crowd.
Our host, Richard Kuter, couldn't have been more entertaining with
his repitoire of songs and he even had ELVIS make an appearance!!!

Elvis swooned the crowd, even had Mrs. Moxley fanning for fresh air!
Our own Minnie James, LAF committee member and Director of
Baptist Village in Lake Park, was a hit with several songs including
"Satin Sheets".

We knew Richard Struempler could dance - he and his wife have been
to most all of the LAF dances.  Now we know, he can sing.  He was a
hit as he led the whole crowd(those of us to shy to take the mic) in
"King of the Road".  Richard was quite comfortable with the microphone.

We had several others who did a great job and had us all clapping and
tapping our feet.  Tim Wright and Alfred Gibson were hams with the
mic.  Ms. Maxine Rowe, Alfred's dancing partner, was as lovely as
ever in her sparkly red outfit.  Alfred and Maxine come to join us all
the way from Sylvester and Nashville!!

We were glad to have Buddy and his wife Dottie join us again.  Buddy
loves singing the "fifties" songs and we all loved that.

We plan to make Karaoke a part of our LAF activities - we welcome
your thoughts/ideas on how to make it as much fun as possible.  Yea,
we know - having a dance floor will make it better.  We will, next time.
Mr. & Mrs. Moxley had a really hard time staying in their seats, their feet
wanted to dance!!!

Check out the pictures below.

The Moxleys

David and Sue Moxley have attended all of our                      Life After Fifty Events.

They love to dance and have a good time.  Both are always smiling and have kind words to share.

David's brother, Doug, and his wife joined us for our last dance.  We could hardly believe there were two of them!  What a pair!!!

We know they can dance, they have put several
of us to shame!!!

At the last dance,we caught David telling some "fish tales" and thought he might fish!  But after the picture in
Wednesday's Valdosta Daily Times (P 2B) we    know they can fish!!

Let's find out Saturday night if they can sing!!!

Check out the earlier post on Karaoke Night.

1st Lakes Area Life After Fifty Karaoke Night

Join us for some more fun with your friends in the Lake Park Area.

On Saturday night, March 26th at 7:00 PM we will gather at the newly remodeled
meeting room at Grassy Pond.  Richard Kuter, local Karaoke Enthusiast, will be
host and leader for the evening.  Richard and his wife, RoseMarie, are local folks
who attend all of our LAF functions and love to have a good time.

For more information and or more detailed directions to Grassy Pond just call the
Lake Park Chamber of Commerce at 229-559-5302 or click on
the Grassy Pond link to the right of this post.
Grassy Pond is the Military Recreational Facility here for Retired and Active Duty
Military Personnel.  Richard Kuter is retired from the US Air Force and I am sure
we have lots of you others who are veterans in some branch of our service.
We salute you!

From I-75 go West towards Clyattville about 1/2 mile, turn left onto
Loch Laurel Road and go about 2 miles.  Grassy Pond is 1st left.

This should be lots of fun.  We will decide how to continue this activity.
We will get input on your ideas to make this a great time for all of us.

OH, we caught you, Richard!

Richard & RoseMarie at Christmas Dance

Now Minnie James, Director at Baptist Village, can sing too.
Tammy Wynett, you best watch out!!

If you are in Chancy Drugs in Lake Park, just ask the Pharmacist, Wendy, about
her dad, Richard.  She says this isn't the same Dad that she grew up in the house
with!  Funny thing-these kids just don't know how much we enjoy retirement
and Life After Fifty!!  See you for LAF Karaoke Night!!
Write to me and let me know if you are enjoying this blogspot and what I
can do to improve it or make it more informative.  ckbremer@bellsouth.net
You can always scroll down or go to older posts to see past events, pics, etc

Dance For The Cure was a tremendous success.

Susan, Patti and Louise
Hello all - I hope you are reading this because you were there!!  We had a GREAT time. We sold 135 tickets and had about 130 in attendance.  The food was delicious & there was lots of it.  Serena Miller and Eula Freeman made the beans and they got the raves!!.  Susan's cole slaw was a hit as we scraped the pan clean. Serving Autry's Bar B Que was a great idea.  If you ever need food for an event, family gathering or just lunch/dinner go to Autry's on S 41. Can't beat good ole' Lake Park folks for doing things right.

We danced the night away.  The floor was full all night with couples and singles!!
You do not have to have a date to have a good time with the Life After Fifty crowd.

The "Kissin Booth" was quite a popular spot too.

We increased the size of the dance floor to accomodate our line dancers - and it's a good thing!!
 Wow, were they swingin'!!

And I hear the Pathfinders here in Lake Park are now offering line dance instruction.  As soon as I get information on time and place, I'll post it for you.
Lake Park - the fun capital of Lowndes County.

More pictures coming soon.
